Weddings

It is an exciting time when two people decide that they want to share their lives together and mark their partnership by getting married. At St Andrew’s we are delighted to be asked to share in couple’s special day.

In the Church of England, every corner of our land is covered by a parish church is here to look after you. If at least one of you lives within our parish boundaries, or you have a special connection with our church, you can arrange your wedding with us.

The first step is to contact the Parish Office on 01823 332531 with the date and time you have in mind. Our Administrator will take a few details, discuss our fees and arrange for your Banns to be called. Well before the wedding, you will be able to meet with the priest who will marry you to look at the different choices you can make for your service and to reflect on the promised you will make to each other. They will book a rehearsal time for you just before the day itself.

On the day, the service will be personalised to your needs and a member of the congregation called a Verger will work with the priest to look after you and your guests and make your special occasion a happy and memorable experience.

After the service, if you wish, one of our Lay Pastoral Assistants will keep in touch with you to help you stay in touch with your parish church.

If you prefer, or if you cannot legally marry at St Andrew’s, we offer a Service of Prayer and Dedication after a Civil Marriage. Please mention this when you contact us, and a member of the clergy will discuss this with you.

On special anniversaries or for their own special reasons, couples appreciate the chance to rededicate themselves to each other by renewing their vows in a Service of Thanksgiving for Marriage. There is usually no fee for this service.

Please note that applications for a copy of a Marriage Certificate must now be made to the Local Registration Office. The Taunton branch can be reached on Email somersetregistrations@somerset.gov.uk, Phone 01823 282251.
