Ministry Team

The Ministry Team is made up of the Vicar, the Curate and the licensed Readers of the parish. We meet regularly as parish staff to study together and to discuss strategy, worship and pastoral care. Aspects of the Mission Action Plan may also be delegated to us by the PCC to deliver.

Pastoral care is shared with a team of Lay Pastoral Assistants, who have their own regular meeting with the clergy for mutual support and for training.

Vicar – The Revd Robin Lodge

Rev'd Robin Lodge, Vicar   Rev'd Katy Gough, Curate
I spent most of my early life in the South West. I graduated in Theology at Bristol University in 1982 and, after a teacher training year in Canterbury, spent two years teaching in North Devon, followed by two and a half years in public transport coordination with Wiltshire County Council. I was ordained in 1990 and served my curacy in the Salisbury Diocese.  I have spent the rest of my ministry so far in Bath & Wells moving up and down the M5, serving parishes in the Wellington Team, Highbridge and now St Andrew’s Taunton. I was Diocesan Liturgical Adviser for ten years, and am currently Taunton Archdeaconry Warden of Readers and Chair of Praxis Southwest. I am married with three daughters, and interested in public transport and political biography.

I joined the team here after I was ordained at Wells Cathedral in 2019. I come from Bristol and before ordination, I worked at a drop-in centre for homeless and vulnerable people. I continue to have a passion for social justice. I love talking to people about their faith, questions and doubts. I also love walking alongside people who are exploring what God may be calling them to do, and am a Chaplain for Discerning Calling.

Dr Jeremy Harvey, Reader   Mrs Ruth Cook, Reader
Hello, I am Jeremy, Reader colleague to Ruth, Katy and Robin. I have spent half my life in Taunton, first as head of Bishop Fox’s and then as a volunteer for things that I care about, such as STAR and The Fellowship of Meditation. I am married to Sheila and we have three children and seven grandchildren. I was licensed as a Reader in 1982, a job which I have relished, and have also had various opportunities to help with church matters in the diocese. My interests include art, writing, people and their stories, and contemplative prayer. Publications include Marian Dunlop Teacher and Healer and Valuing and Educating Young People. It is a privilege to be part of St. Andrew’s life for which I give thanks. This is where you add a friendly biog of your staff members, so that people know who they are when they get in touch with the church.   I am Ruth Cook and have been a Reader since 2009. I am currently the Deanery Warden for Taunton and Secretary for the Diocesan Readers' Council.
I have been a tutor for the Exploring Christianity course run by the Diocese until recently and am hoping to lead a group for the new Exploring Faith course starting this September. I am married to Alan our Director of Music here in St Andrews. My forty year working life was spent primarily in Local Government but also included 12 years as the Parish Administrator here. I like reading (funnily enough!) and am a volunteer at Priorswood library. I also like taking photos and going for walks.
