Serving God in the heart of our community since 1881

St Andrew's Church, Taunton

www.standrewstaunton.org.uk

St Andrew's welcomes our new Vicar Jim Cox, his wife Doreen, and their children Natasha, Chloe and Thomas

Jim's Institution and Induction as our Vicar took place on Tuesday 2 October, with the The Bishop of Taunton and Archdeacon of Taunton, a large number of the St. Andrew's community, and with many representatives of Jim's previous parish in Smethwick. All had come to wish Jim well in his new ministry and welcome the family to their new home.

All of us at St. Andrew's pray that Jim, Doreen and their family will share many years of fellowship, joy, peace and fulfilment with us at St. Andrew's.

Please come to Jim's first Sunday services, this Sunday 7 October.  See below for details.

We welcome you to our website

"St. Andrew's is a community of celebration and of hope"

This is how one of our church members recently described St Andrew's, and our aim is for this website to capture that spirit online - our faith, our worship, our people, and our community. We hope that you will enjoy looking around, and will come back often, as the site is updated every week.

Our church is first of all a spiritual centre, a place where people can find God, be nourished in their spiritual journey, and grow in their life of faith. If you could come along to one of our services your presence would be a joy to us and to God.

If you have any questions or suggestions please do contact us using the 'Get in Touch' button.  You will find all of our contact details there, including access to a location map. We also love to know a little more about our web guests, and would really appreciate it if you could take a moment to sign our Visitors' Book

Again, welcome and thank you for visiting our site.

Gospel Reading for

Sunday 7 October 2007

Sunday 30 September 2007

Luke 17: 5-10

The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’ The Lord replied, ‘If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea”, and it would obey you.

‘Who among you would say to your slave who has just come in from ploughing or tending sheep in the field, “Come here at once and take your place at the table”? Would you not rather say to him, “Prepare supper for me, put on your apron and serve me while I eat and drink; later you may eat and drink”? Do you thank the slave for doing what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that you were ordered to do, say, “We are worthless slaves; we have done only what we ought to have done.'"

Quote of the Week

“Those who write of the impact of Jesus upon them are saying: ‘Look! Listen! A child is born and a man dies, and in the story of that birth and that life, in images of water and bread, in damaged lives healed and in people forgiven and set free, and on a wooden cross and in an upper room a new way of living becomes possible, a new creation is set in being, and a whole new understanding of God is revealed.’”

From This Sunrise of Wonder by Michael Mayne, available in the Parish Library.
