  Focussing on God

One of the great things about the Church of England is the many different ways in which we worship God.  At St. Andrew's, we are committed to conveying the Christian revelation through words, music, signs and symbols - especially in the sacrament of Holy Communion.  This brings a depth and richness to our worship, which many of us find helps our thoughts transcend the commonplace, and re-focus on God.

If this form of worship is new to you, the words and symbolism may seem a little confusing at first.  But please don't worry - it soon becomes familiar.  Meanwhile, simply through your presence, you are fully involved in the act of worshipping God.  If you have any questions just have a chat with us after the service.

On the second Sunday of each month we have our Service for all ages. This is a time of songs, prayers, readings, activities and a short talk, and has, as the name suggests, something for people of all ages.  It is often complemented by St. Andrew's versatile Music Group.

The third Sunday includes "The Railway Children" - a resource for children from 0- 9ish.

The fourth Sunday is a Family Communion -but it's not just for families!  To be precise it is a Service of the Word, followed by Holy Communion and is designed to be accessible for people of all ages.  It lasts about an hour.

Linking it to life

In all our worship we seek to make connections between what we profess and the way in which we live and work.  We relate Bible readings to real experiences so we can understand their message for us today. Our worship is an offering to God, but also a time when we can be nurtured and strengthened, ready for another week in which we can "go in peace to love and serve the Lord".

An open invitation

We invite baptised Christians of all denominations to receive Holy Communion.  If you would prefer to receive a blessing just come to the altar rail with everyone else, and hold a service leaflet so that we know what to do.

Children are always welcome at St. Andrew's and there is a special activity for 0 - 9 year olds - "The Railway Children" - at 10am on the third Sunday of every month.  There are toys and books at the back of the church and a toilet with baby changing facilities.

There is access for wheel chair users to both the main part of the church and the Lady Chapel.  An inductive loop system is installed to assist those with hearing aids - for best effect please sit on the left hand side of the church.

When you join us at St. Andrew's we would love to welcome you personally, so please do stay for a chat after the service.
