Voices Raised!
17
December 2005
Alan
Cook, Director of Music at St. Andrew's, today announced the formation
of a new choir 'Voices Raised!' especially for young people who love to
sing.
In an
interview for this website Alan answered a number of questions about the
new choir.
What is Voices Raised?
It’s a
choir especially for young people from age 8 onwards, who love music and
singing. We welcome everyone who would like to sing in a choir – you
don’t have to audition, but it’s best if you are willing to have a go
and learn as you go along.
What
sort of music do you sing?
We sing
a wide range of music – world music, modern music and some older pieces
– the important thing is that it should be easy to learn and fun to
sing.
Is this
the same as the church choir?
No,
it’s a separate choir. If you are a member of Voices Raised you will be
able to take part in our monthly family services at St. Andrew’s. We
won’t expect you to come to church every Sunday, but you would be more
than welcome to sing with the main choir if you wished.
When do
you meet?
We will
meet in the church, on Fridays from 6.15pm until 7pm, during term time
only.
How do
I join?
You can
call the Parish Office on Taunton 332531
or contact Alan
by e-mail.
When
does it all get going?
Parents
and children are warmly invited to come along to our WELCOME
MORNING in church on Saturday 4th February 2006
at 10am, to find out more.
Voices
Raised! is run by Alan and Ruth Cook who are both experienced
musicians. In addition to being Director of Music at St. Andrew’s
Church, Alan is also Music Adviser for the Bath and Wells Diocese.
