St. Andrew's
receives £3000 grant.
18 March
2007
St.
Andrew's has received a grant of £3000 following an application to the
Historic Churches Preservation Trust. The grant will be put
towards the costs of repairing the leaking narthex roof using turned
stainless steel.
The repairs to the narthex
roof are part of a programme of repairs to St. Andrew's that were
identified in the last Quinquennial report. One of these items,
repairs to the font aisle roof, has already been completed. The
work on the narthex roof has already started and is expected to be completed within the next few weeks.
The Historic Churches
Preservation Trust is the only national charity offering funds for
essential repairs to churches and chapels in England and Wales. It was
founded in 1953, and since then has awarded over £23 million in
approximately 11,000 grants. It receives no financial assistance
from either government or church authorities, and survives entirely on
voluntary contributions.
The PCC is most grateful to
the HCPT for its support. Members of the congregation may wish to
consider becoming Friends of HCPT, which costs £25 for the first year
and £15 thereafter. Friends receive a
membership card, a copy of the Review of the Year containing reports of
the Trust's work and a shorter Newsletter. You can sign up by clicking
here.
