Katharine's first book to be
published:
The Way of the Cross - Meditations on
the death of Jesus
19
November 2006

During
Holy Week two or three years ago Julian and I were talking about
reflections written for “Stations of the Cross”. In response to
something I said Julian suggested I had a go at writing my own
reflections to complement the beautiful “Stations” designed and created
by our banner group.
The
idea took root and I did indeed write eight reflections which we used
during Holy Week the following year.
As many
of you know, I already write articles regularly for Sunday Link
and for another publication called “Common Worship Living Word”.
Both of these are published by Redemptorist Publications and I
approached my editor to sound her out about the possibility of a book of
reflections based on those I had written for St Andrew’s.
Redemptorist said yes and the result is a book due to be published this
December/January.
The
fifteen reflections take us from the Garden of Gethsemane, with Jesus
facing the horror of his betrayal, trial and death, to that first Easter
morning when a new light dawns on the earth and Jesus is raised to new
life.
I asked
my brother, George Boxley, if he would illustrate the reflections for me
and was delighted when he said yes. I am thrilled with the powerful
visual interpretations he has produced and it has been really good to
work with him.
Thank you
I want
to say a big thank you: to Julian for the idea; to the banner group for
the images which got me started and to everyone who has supported me
with love, encouragement and prayer.
This book will be in the Parish Library once it comes off the printing
press!
