A Tale of Two Roofs
2 April
2006
Good news! The workmen have been
and gone and they've done a great job!
The lead roof over the font aisle has
been renewed; rotten wood has been replaced; lead flashing put where no
flashings have been and old guttering replaced with new, long lasting
aluminium gutters and downpipes. All that remains is a final visit
from the plumbers to give the lead a coat of oil.
The roof over the lobby between the
Lady Chapel and High Altar has also received attention. More lead
flashings and a new pipe to convey water from the conduit that runs
through the tower directly to the downpipe at the east end of the roof.
And,
don't shout too loudly, they seem to have found and sued the problem
that has beset the kitchen for so long. The PCC is looking at
possibilities and we're aiming to have the kitchen back in operation as
soon as possible.
