Former Vicar of St.
Andrew's Taunton, Revd. Julian Smith, has been named as one of four new
Prebendaries of Wells Cathedral.
Those
who, like me, are unsure may wish to know that according to Wikipedia,
"a prebendary is a post connected to a
cathedral or collegiate church and is a type of canon. Prebendaries have
a role in the administration of the cathedral. A prebend is a type of
benefice, which usually consisted of the income from the cathedral
estates."
All of us at St. Andrew's
are delighted to hear of Julian's well deserved recognition.
Julian would be delighted
to see any members of the church who may wish to attend his
installation, which will take place during Evensong on Tuesday 9th
October, at 5.15pm. (Please note the date in the Grapevine
newspaper is incorrect.)
Julian is currently Priest
in Charge of
St. Thomas's Wells.
