Mr Paul Sheehan was commissioned as Headteacher of St Andrew's C of E VC Primary School on 11th March. It was wonderful to have Mr Sheehan’s commissioning as part of the church's Service for All Ages The wider church was represented by the Rural Dean, Revd Sue Tucker, and by Mr Mike Tedstone from the diocese; the school was represented by parents, pupils, governors and staff, and the wider community by the uniformed organisations. Each and everyone had a part to play in the service, by promising to give Paul their support.

Paul was accompanied by his wife Carol and their children Georgina, Alexandra and Harry, plus close family and friends.  Mr Mike Tedstone was accompanied by his wife Lorna.   The school musicians played before, during and after the service. The school choir, the church choir and Voices Raised sang during the service, which was conducted by the Rural Dean, Revd Sue Tucker, and Tricia Anderson, one of St. Andrew's Readers.

During the commissioning, Sue Tucker presented Paul with the book, "The Lion Storyteller Bible", and Mike Tedstone presented him with "A Book of 1,000 Prayers" from the Diocese of Bath & Wells.   In addition the Churchwardens symbolically handed Paul the keys to the school.   It was also Paul's birthday and at the end of his interview with the Rural Dean, the congregation sang "Happy Birthday".  During the service the school musicians played "Carillon", the school choir sang "Won't you sit down" and "Inchworm".  The church choir and Voices Raised sang the anthem "All I once held dear".

Refreshments were served afterwards, so people could talk with Paul and his family.

I feel we must thank all those who arranged the service and also everyone who attended, especially the staff, parents and governors.
