Serving God in
the heart of our community since 1881
St
Andrew's Church, Taunton
Our Choir
Our friendly, versatile choir consists of
men and women, boys and girls of all ages. We rehearse on Friday
evenings, and take part in worship at 10am on Sundays. Throughout the
year there are other special services and events in which the choir
participates. We form a supportive community at the heart of our
church, and are committed to enhancing worship at St. Andrew’s and the
life of the church generally.
Voices Raised!
Voices
Raised! is a choir especially for young people from age 8 onwards, who
love music and singing. We welcome everyone who would like to sing in a
choir – you don’t have to audition, but it’s best if you are willing to
have a go and learn as you go along. We meet in the church, on Fridays
from 6.15pm until 7pm, during term time only.
We sing
a wide range of music – world music, modern music and some older pieces
– the important thing is that it should be easy to learn and fun to
sing.
If you
are a member of Voices Raised you will be able to take part in our
monthly family services at St. Andrew’s. We won’t expect you to come to
church every Sunday, but you would be more than welcome to sing with the
main choir if you wished.
St. Andrew’s Music Group
This unique group of musicians of all
ages greatly enhances the worship of the church at our monthly Family
Service, and at other special services throughout the year. We rehearse
as required and our instruments range from piano to saxophone, via
violin and guitar. So whatever instrument you play it is guaranteed to
complement our group, and you will be made very welcome.
Our Director of
Music
All our music at St. Andrew's is led
by Director of Music Alan Cook. Alan has been a church organist for
over 40 years, and is Music Adviser to the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
