Serving God in
the heart of our community since 1881
St
Andrew's Church, Taunton
At
the going down of the sun and in the morning
we will remember them.
We welcome you to our website
"
St.
Andrew's is a community of celebration and of hope"
This is how o
ne
of our church members recently described St Andrew's, and
our aim is for this website to capture that spirit online -
our faith, our worship, our people, and our community. We
hope that you will enjoy looking around, and will come back
often, as the site is updated every week.
Our church is first of all a spiritual
centre, a place where people can find God, be nourished in
their spiritual journey, and grow in their life of faith. If
you could come along to one of our services your presence
would be a joy to us and to God.
If you have any questions or
suggestions please do contact us using the 'Get in Touch'
button. You will find all of our contact details
there, including access to a location map. We also love to
know a little more about our web guests, and would really
appreciate it if you could take a moment to sign our
Visitors' Book.
Again, welcome and thank you for visiting our
site.

Some Sadducees, those who say
there is no resurrection, came
to him and asked him a question,
‘Teacher, Moses wrote for us
that if a man’s brother dies,
leaving a wife but no children,
the man shall marry the widow
and raise up children for his
brother. Now there were seven
brothers; the first married, and
died childless; then the second
and the third married her, and
so in the same way all seven
died childless. Finally the
woman also died. In the
resurrection, therefore, whose
wife will the woman be? For the
seven had married her.’
Jesus said to them, ‘Those who
belong to this age marry and are
given in marriage; but those who
are considered worthy of a place
in that age and in the
resurrection from the dead
neither marry nor are given in
marriage. Indeed they cannot die
any more, because they are like
angels and are children of God,
being children of the
resurrection. And the fact that
the dead are raised Moses
himself showed, in the story
about the bush, where he speaks
of the Lord as the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac, and
the God of Jacob. Now he is God
not of the dead, but of the
living; for to him all of them
are alive.’
Quote of the Week
I think that the Church
ought to be open to people who say, "I don't really believe but I
sense something important is going on. I would like to hang out with
you for awhile -pray, sing, read the Bible, whatever - and see what
happens, see where it leads me. I tell you truth, these are some of
my most favourite people in the world. I so appreciate people who
are intellectually careful and honest. And I would rather be in
community with an agnostic person who, in her uncertainty, was
willing to walk the Christian path with me, than with some person
who accepts doctrines without question and never bothers to think
about how she lives her life.
