Font
On entering the church one
of the first things you will see, to the right of the door, is the alabaster font,
sculpted by Bridgman of Lichfield in 1893. It is surrounded by space enough for
relatives and sponsors of those being baptised to stand in comfort.
A dove surmounts the beautiful painted domed cover.
Our Vicars
always enjoy our Easter Eve service when the congregation
gathers around the font to re-make baptismal vows, as it gives them the
opportunity to liberally splash water from the font all over them using
a pine bough!
Below you
can see a detail of the figures around the circumference of the font.
