Jessica, Jessica, Jessica Jane,

Thank you for coming here. Do come again!

When you were here, there were walks on the hills,

Lunches at pubs, and some take-away meals.

(That’s what he said to me. I remained here,

Eating my usual vegetable fare.)

They took you for walks, and a run on the moor,

Then down to Lee Abbey, and that’s when they saw

The Vale of the Rocks, where some goats they did find

(You saw them, Jessica: I stayed behind):

They looked at the big goats, and small goats like me.

They looked at the goats – and then went for some tea.

Come next in the summertime, Jessica, do.

The Coleridge House will be open to view.

We’ll walk, if you will, on the Coleridge Way,

And race on the sands down at Woolacombe Bay!

Get them to bring you here; do come again,

Calamity! Help! I don’t know what to do!

I’m here in my boat (and the sky is so blue),

But now it is leaking. I’m starting to think…

I think – no, I’m certain – it’s going to sink!

It’s filling with water right up to the brim!

Calamity! Help! I don’t think I can swim!

We’re sinking – my boat is about to capsize!

And I’m in the water right up to my eyes!

Calamity! Help! I don’t know what to do…

My boat has gone down… (and the sky is so blue.)
