Goats Galore - a whole herd from harvest! 29 October 2005
Send a Goat is the slogan. Sending 50 goats is the reality! By the time we held our Harvest Festival at St. Andrew's Church, the school had already raised a magnificent £900+, ensuring that at least 34 goats could be sent to families in Ethiopia. The cash collections at our Harvest service, together with donations at the Harvest Lunch, added another 16 goats, giving a wonderful total of 50 goats!
Farm Africa is the charity behind the Send a Goat scheme. It doesn't give a goat to a family, it only lends it. When the goat produces kids, one of them is returned to Farm Africa, which then sends it on to another family - and so on. The difference this scheme makes to the self-sufficiency of people living in great poverty is enormous.
