Stained glass in St. Andrew's:

The Windows That Speak

On the first page of this tour we started to take a closer look at the present East Window.  In our virtual walk around the Church, looking at the windows, we have progressed from the present East window to the original one, which is now at the west end of the south aisle.

It shows the transfiguration of our Lord, who is flanked by Moses the Law-giver, on the left holding the tablets of stone and a flowered staff, and Elijah the prophet, whose work found fulfilment in Christ.

Across the bottom are portrayed, Peter, James and John who had a vision of Jesus in all the glory of the Christ of God. As the apostles are not 'labelled' in any way, it is up to us to decide which is which...

...though the left hand figure is depicted as a young man, which is the usual portrayal of St. John.
