Join us for the Taunton Churches
Together service to celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Sunday 21 January 2007,
6.30pm in church
The annual Week of Prayer
for Christian Unity begins on the Thursday, January 18 and concludes
Thursday, January 25.
The Week of
Prayer, which has been held each year since 1908, is an opportunity for
Christians to repeat the prayer of Jesus that "all may be one." This
year’s theme has its origins in the experience of Christian communities
in the South African region of Umlazi, near Durban. A legacy of racism,
unemployment and poverty continues to raise formidable challenges for
its people, where there is still a shortage of schools, medical clinics
and adequate housing.
Our service will be led by
Katharine Smith, Reader at St Andrew's, and the preacher will be Revd
Debbie Borda of Rowbarton Methodist Church. The service will include
participation from members of churches across the town. We pray that our
brothers and sisters from all churches in the area will be able to join
us at St. Andrew's for this special service, and we look forward to
welcoming you all.
