Harvest
Festival:
“Celebration and thanksgiving for all God’s gifts”
Join us at
St. Andrew’s on Sunday 14 October at 10am
Our Harvest
Festival service is for the whole family, so come and be a part of this
service of celebration and renewal.
Please feel free some fruit or
vegetables that can be made into soups and pies for our harvest lunch -
but it doesn't matter if you can't!
Proceeds from our
harvest events this year will be given to the fund launched in memory of
the late Bishop Andrew Radford, Bishop of Taunton. It will fund a sports
tournament for young people in
Zambia.
So please do join
us for harvest. St. Andrew’s is your church, and your presence will be a
joy to us and to God.

A harvest note from Jim
Thanking
God for the harvest is a universal tradition as old as human
civilisation. At a time when so few are personally connected to
food production Harvest Festival serves to remind us that,
despite our modern farming practices and illusion of control,
there are still elements of chance and
mystery to
the whole process. |
To be able to
wonder at the marvel of creation can lead us to both grateful thanks and
to an awareness of our failure to use the world’s gifts wisely.
If Harvest Festival
is a joyful celebration, it is also a solemn commitment: a chance to
renew our relationship with the earth and its Creator and Redeemer.
I look forward to
meeting you at our Harvest Festival Service on 14 October.
Jim
