Crewkerne
welcomes Jonathan
14 May 2006
In fact
it was the people of the United Benefice of Crewkerne with Haselbury
Plucknett, Misterton, North Perrott and Wayford who gave Jonathan,
Beatrice, Reuben, Joshua and James a very warm welcome at Jonathan’s
licensing on 14 May.
By car
and by coach the congregation of St Andrew’s turned out in great numbers
to support Jonathan and the family. It was lovely to see them again.
We were also made very welcome and enjoyed sharing in the worship and
the fellowship which continued after the service.
It was
a beautifully warm and sunny day, everyone was in fine voice and
although no doubt some of us felt again a sadness at saying goodbye to a
very special family it was good to know that they will be loved and
supported in their new home and ministry. And Crewkerne is not so very
far away!
Of
course an invitation to lunch is usually enthusiastically accepted by
our folk and we were treated to a fine spread of food both savoury and
sweet which I know we all very much appreciated.
Here is
one of the prayers used during the service as the Morris family set out
on this new stage of their journey together.
Prayer
God of
all grace and goodness,
we
thank you for Jonathan’s family,
for his
wife Beatrice,
and
their children, Reuben, Joshua
and
James.
By your
Spirit of peace,
draw
them together in their new life,
and
help them to be true friends
to one
another.
Let
your love surround them
and
your care protect them,
through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Revd Jonathan Morris
was, until recently, Curate of St. Andrew's Church, Taunton. The photo
