The Highway Code and Weather Forecast: chanted

by Adrian Smith, Webmaster

With acknowledgements to The Church Times and its correspondents.

There has been discussion in The Church Times recently about these pieces of music and I thought it would be fun to make them available here.

They were set as a psalm by John Horrex, who sang in a group The Mastersingers, with George Pratt, then Director of Music at Keele University, Geoff Keeting and Barry Montague.

The group was associated with Abingdon School, and the record, released by EMI on 1 April 1966, reached number 26 in the charts in May the same year - the same week that Manfred Mann got to number 1 with "Pretty Flamingo".

The copyright is still vested in Abingdon School which holds the recordings as MP3 files on their website.

Click on the links below to download the files from their website to your computer.  You will need Windows Media Player, I-tunes or similar software on your PC in order to play it.  Save the files to your PC when prompted to do so, and then open them in your media browser. The files are around 3MB each.
