Former Vicar of St.
Andrew's Church Taunton, Revd. Julian Smith, was yesterday licensed and
installed as Priest in Charge of St. Thomas Church Wells with Horrington.
The photo above shows Julian in St. Thomas' after the ceremony.
A large contingent of St.
Andrew's folk made the journey to Wells to support Julian and Margery as
they took up their new ministry. The licensing service was
conducted by The Right Revd Peter Price,
Bishop of Bath and Wells.

One notable meeting took
place during the service, between Clifford Trott (at 95, the most senior
member of St. Andrew's congregation) and Rev. Kingsley Laws, who in
September 2006 celebrated the communion service at St. Thomas' on his
100th birthday.

The picture below, courtesy
of the St. Thomas Wells website, shows Julian's new church in the
setting of his new parish.

All of us from St. Andrew's
would like to thank the people of St. Thomas' for their welcome and kind
hospitality. An
extended report on the day will follow as soon as possible.
Adrian Smith
