INTERVIEWER

ALISON

How long have you attended St Andrew's? All my life! (I’ll let you guess how long that is!)
What do you do?
School Secretary
What church activities are you involved in?
Sidesman, organiser of Christmas Market
What are your five favourite things? Getting together with our daughters and son-in-law:  boating holidays in France: sitting in the garden on a warm summer’s evening : meals out with friends : wine! (especially while on holiday in France with friends)
Can you describe a book you read recently in one sentence? ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ – Philippa Gregory.  (Historical novel)    It makes you wonder how much of it could have been true
What is your favourite television programme?
9.00 programmes such as  – Spooks, Silent Witness, Waking the Dead
If you could have lunch with two well known people, who would you invite?

Isambard Kingdom Brunel – to show him that the many engineering feats he was responsible for are still in use.

Queen Victoria – to see if I could amuse her!

What is one of the most important things you have learned in life so far?
There is always time to do anything that’s important
Why is your Christian faith important to you?
It has given me a good grounding and ‘instruction manual’ for my life which I hope that I have stuck to and instilled in our children.
How does your faith affect the way in which you live your life day to day?
I try to ensure that I treat people I meet in the way that I would like to be treated myself and when the going gets tough, I can turn to my faith to help me out.
What is special about St. Andrew's for you? The friendships built up over many years –  the community in which the church stands - the way that the church has changed over the years to keep up with changing times – and the hope that it will continue to reflect the diverse needs of the people it serves
If you could say one thing to someone thinking of coming to St. Andrew's for the first time, what would it be?

The church is one of tradition, but will welcome new ideas.  You can have little involvement in the ‘family’ life of the church if that is what you want, or you will be welcomed if you have any gifts you would like to offer.  Give it a try!
